Born in Mexico City, Maria Fernanda Prieto developed a passion for storytelling from an early age, often enlisting friends as characters in and bringing these tales to life on her mini DV camera. Her short films, including Recognition and ¿Qué Somos?, have screened at festivals such as GLAFF, deadCenter, and LA Shorts Fest. Her latest short film El Sarape will premiere at FICM in October 2025. She also served as 2nd Unit Director on Netflix’s adaptation of Pedro Páramo, and is currently developing her debut feature film, Te Quiero Ver Arder, with Woo Films.
